Audience with the Research center for Nuclear Reactor Technology, National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN)

During the meeting, we engaged in discussions regarding a research collaboration between the National Research and Innovation Agency of Indonesia (BRIN) and the Nakase Laboratory. This collaborative effort is poised to substantially strengthen the relationship and research landscape between Japan and Indonesia, along with partner entities such as Vietnam and Malaysia. Furthermore, this collaboration encompasses a vital exchange of human resources, fostering mutual knowledge enrichment for both Indonesia and Japan, particularly in the development of robust methods for retaining radioactive materials.

Through this partnership, researchers from Indonesia will have the opportunity to visit the Nakase laboratory at the Tokyo Institute of Technology. Furthermore, it opens doors for prospective students from Indonesia to become part of the Nakase Laboratory's community.

The core focus of this joint research is the safety aspects of nuclear reactor fuel and nuclear waste management. This aligns with the Net Zero Emission initiative in Indonesia, which targets to stop building coal-fired power plants in Indonesia from 2025 onwards this research contributes to the implementation of green technology in Indonesia, which has a positive impact on climate change and the availability of affordable and clean energy.
